The Communauté d'Agglomération Cap Excellence brings you three tourist circuits and heritage tours through the cities of Pointe-à-Pitre (Lapwent), Baie-Mahault (Bémao) and Les Abymes (Zabym). These circuits, designed to combine entertainment and education, offer a genuine immersion in these towns characterized by their rich heritage and shaped by visionary figures in Guadeloupe's history.

Walking these routes will enable visitors not only to discover the history but also the cultural diversity, gastronomy, biodiversity, markets, music and milestones that have defined the region. "Sonjé" -which means “Remember” in Guadeloupean Kreyol- is an invitation to reminisce for a better comprehension of the present and preparation for the future, in view of crafting a memorable and rewarding experience.

Pointe-à-Pitre Circuits

Let us guide you to the heart of Pointe-à-Pitre's heritage through the city's theme-based circuits: culture, gastronomy, shopping... Pick your itinerary and explore all that Pointe-à-Pitre has to offer.

Circuit n°1 : Heritage and Gastronomy

A true reflection of the city's cultural diversity, this itinerary invites you to explore Haitian, Dominican, Indian, Dominican Creole, Syrian-Lebanese cuisines and other flavors. At every stop, you'll enjoy a full-fledged culinary experience. Don't miss out on bokit street vendors, typical of Guadeloupe and a local example of the world-known "Food truck".
Enjoy the workshops hosted by our partners, where you'll learn how to prepare culinary specialties -such as accra fritters, fried sandwiches called bokits and cheese naan..
On certain Sundays, other events might highlight your visit, including Bokit Day -with the "Golden Bokit" competition- and Sino Bol Day.

Circuit n°2 : heritage and Shopping

Take the time to stroll around and indulge yourself with a mix of heritage exploration and shopping on this tour of Pointe-à-Pitre's merchants. Find a selection of souvenir, craft, beach and sporting goods stores -not to mention boutiques featuring local designers.
(A "Vigilant shopkeepers - your vacation partners" poster sign will be displayed in the windows of partner stores, to guarantee you a worry-free shopping experience).

Circuit n°3 : Heritage and Museums

This itinerary invites you to explore Pointe-à-Pitre's fascinating museum landscape through a one-stop shop rallying three iconic sites: the Saint-John Perse Museum, Musarth and Mémorial ACTe. During the renovation of the Saint-John Perse Museum, its collections will be exceptionally displayed at the Pavillon de la Ville. Throughout this tour, you'll also learn about urban art, with dedicated Street Art days and theme-based tours exploring the history of Pointe-à-Pitre's facades and urban vegetation. Look up and enjoy this open-air art gallery that makes the city a living museum.

Quick stroll n°4 A : Heritage and Cultural Events

Dive into the heart of Pointe-à-Pitre's cultural agenda with the many events on offer throughout your stay (conferences, exhibitions, fashion shows, etc.). Every Saturday and Sunday morning, the city comes alive with carnival bands, especially around Place de la Victoire, Marché aux Épices and Quai Lardenoy. In the gardens of the Pavillon de la Ville, "Lakou a Mas" is an event that will immerse you in carnival culture, with mask and costume creation workshops, tastings of traditional meals, and exchanges with local communities. Also worth a visit: the Flower Market on Place Gourbeyre.

Quick stroll n°4 B : Heritage and Cultural Events

On Sundays, the streets of Pointe-à-Pitre vibrate to the rhythm of local religions. This tour brings you on the tracks of local residents to their places of worship, chosen for their historical and architectural significance. For a moment of relaxation, head to the Kiosque -Gazebo- where Tai Chi sessions are hosted to bring some cool to the downtown bustle. An opportunity for you to find out about another aspect of Guadeloupean life, where culture and spirituality come together for an authentic experience.
